Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton appear to follow a style formula so they don't outshine each other
Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle might be using a carefully crafted style strategy for their joint appearances.
Celebrity stylist Rochelle White told The Daily Mail she thinks the pair are being careful not to upstage one another.
They appear to be taking turns when it comes to wearing more expensive and glamorous outfits.
The always fashionable Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle made quite a splash on Wednesday when they wore dresses with wildly different price points, but it looks like there might be a carefully crafted style formula in place.
For Wednesday's interview at the Royal Foundation Forum, Markle wore a $1,795 belted satin wrap dress by Jason Wu. Middleton has certainly worn similarly priced outfits before, but she interestingly went with the more affordable $169 Royal Blue Tailored Maternity Dress by Seraphine instead of something more glamorous.
Not only was Middleton's dress 10 times less expensive than Markle's, it's also one we've previously seen her in before. According to celebrity stylist Rochelle White, this frugal outfit choice is apparently part of a strategy to ensure one of the future sisters-in-law never outshines the other.
"It seems that they carefully plan their outfits around each other," White said in an interview with The Daily Mail. "I feel they are very aware that all eyes are on them, so they take turns to have a stand out moment."
As the Daily Mail points out, this theory holds up when taking a look at their past joint appearances. For Christmas day in 2017, Markle went with a $1,295 brown wrap coat by Sentaler, which looked rather subdued next to Middleton's $2,197.50 festive red and green plaid coat by Miu Miu.
When the duo attended two separate events on the same night in early February, a similar strategy appeared to be in place. Middleton wore a stunningly elegant custom-made gown by Alexander McQueen during her visit to the Royal Palace in Oslo, Norway, while Markle opted for a more sensible $1,995 suit jacket and $795 wool straight-leg pants by McQueen while attending the Endeavour Fund Awards in London, UK. boho style items that is cheap to wear of the wedding
The two are expected to make several more appearances together as Markle gears up for her wedding to Prince Harry in May, so we'll soon see if they continue this pattern.
